Working on my craftiness.

I invested in a Kindle a few weeks ago. I love it. It is small, light, and easy to carry around with me. I often whip it out and read a page or two here and there, and I have been flying through books. However, I just couldn't get myself to spend thirty dollars to spend on a case for the thing. I decided I would just be careful, but the more I carried it around, the more nervous I got about it being scratched or dropped.

That is when I decided to make a bag for my Kindle. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and I remembered that we had some old Washington Redskins fabric that Ben and I bought on clearance a while back. Ben lived in D.C. until he was ten and is a huge Redskins fan. I think that when we bought the fabric we intended to use it for bedding for our children or something (they shall be born fans), but I figured Ben wouldn't hate it if his wife used a bit of it for her Kindle case.

I sewed some fabric squares together, stuffed them with poly-fil, and used a shoelace to make it a drawstring bag. And although that makes it sound easy, I am quite the novice seamstress and this was pretty hard for me. I was making it up as I went because I didn't have a pattern, so it was a lot of trial and error. It took me about four hours and most of that was spent unpicking, ha.

Here is the finished product:

Sorry for the poor picture quality, its a cell phone picture and I don't have a fancy schmancy phone like all of you.

It definitely isn't fancy and you can probably tell it's homemade, but it was cheap and gave me a chance to practice my skills. I think it will serve its purpose just fine.

So, you can place your orders by emailing me...
Bahaha. Just kidding.

Now I'm going to go finish watching My Fair Lady. I love Sundays.
