Taza stole my baby name.
The Setting: March 2009. Whole Foods grocery store. Seattle, Washington.
The Scene: Ben and I are in line checking out and our cashier's name is Eleanor.
Dialogue:
Me: Do you like the name Eleanor?
Ben: Yeah, a lot, do you?
Me: Yeah, a lot. Let's name our baby girl that.
Ben: OK.
Proof that I had the name first. For two years I have been saving that name and I am punished just because we are waiting a bit to have kids. But alas, I have already seen other blogs talking about how they love the name and want to use it. This means that I most likely will not. I don't want my child to be one of twenty Eleanors in her kindergarten class.
I kind of have issues with the names that people are giving their children these days. They sound so trendy and made up. Most of the time when someone tells me the name of their newborn babe I want to gag. But I don't. I say, "Oh that's cute" but I don't mean it. So I congratulate Taza on her good taste. But I hope it doesn't make the name uber popular.
Just so you know, I call dibs on the following names:
Eloise
Oscar
Penelope
Henry
Evelyn
George
You are no longer allowed to use ANY of the names above. Or I will hunt you down. The end.

Whoa, delicate territory. Name-claiming. Of course, it doesn't matter to someone like me who is not in your family. But there have been some raw feelings about topics such as these in a couple families I know.... :) Cute names! (And I am not gagging as I say that) My favorite is Evelyn. So... are you guys going to have 6 kids, 3 of each? Wouldn't that be perfect! ;)
I will fight you for Henry. I even have that name written down. But let's be honest. You are waaay closer to poppin them out then I am so you can have it :( haha
Old names are coming back with a vengence..
Lorelei(my 2 year olds name) is pretty old, I don't know a single kid whose name is lorelei.
Spencer I don't know how old that name is, but no one around my area has that name :)
i love old name so much though.
Wow. Two of my names are on here. I didn't know Henry was getting popular again! I thought I was original, but apparently so is everyone else.
i love your top-knot! and your names are cute :)
haha, i know what you mean!!! i used to love the name Olivia until some girl i went to high school with (that i never really had high opinions of) named her baby girl that, and now i don't find the name as attractive as i once did!
i agree with jamie. henry is one of my favorite boy names!

Aw Henry-my grandpa's name!
I've got a list of names saved on my computer (for quite some time!) and some of them are pretty popular now, others not.
