Today I overheard this conversation:
Woman: "I don't understand why we have a holiday for Martin Luther King. He is the only one who isn't a president that we have a holiday for. I don't think he falls in the same category as Lincoln or Washington."
Man: "Yeah, I don't get it either."
Woman: "He wasn't a good man. I'm not anti or anything, but he wasn't a good man."
Man: "Oh yeah right. I can tell that you are anti."
Woman laughing: "So you could see me crossing my fingers behind my back then?"
...
And there I was. Dumbfounded over what I had just heard.
I have to admit, whenever I hear people play the "race card" I usually roll my eyes and think to myself "Come on people, racism has been over for years. That's not a valid argument." But that conversation proved me wrong. I realized that although I have never been a racist, it doesn't mean others aren't.
Racism still exists, ladies and gentlement. Looks like MLK's dream hasn't quite come true.
Sad.

Yes sadly....it does still exist! Sad that people feel that way!
Wow. If it were me, it would take all I had not to turn around and chew her out. Maybe we should enslave racist people for a while and see how they like it eh? Who's with me!
