Seriously Utah???

So the other day Ben came across a group on Facebook called "Yeah I live in Utah and no I'm not Mormon." He was looking at the page and noticed that a lot of people were saying that they hated growing up in Utah because the Mormon moms wouldn't let their kids play with them.

This breaks my heart. Why would a parent do that? We are supposed to be christian. And I feel like people in Utah are just so naive that they honestly think if someone isn't Mormon they must not be a good person.  Why else would they do that? It just is so not true. Two of my best friends growing up weren't Mormon and both them and their families were just awesome people. I feel like it is so sad and the only thing it does is push the people who aren't Mormon away. From what this Facebook group showed it seemed like they even had anti-Mormon feelings.

I think in Utah people take advantage of the fact that a lot of the people around them are Mormon. However, if they lived other places and refused to let their children play with kids of other religions, there would be no kids left to befriend.  Also, anyone I know who is Mormon and grew up out of the state say that Utah Mormons tend to be a lot different.  I hate that Utah gets this reputation. For a state that is predominately Mormon we should be very welcoming and accepting.

I really feel like this is a real problem and wish that it would be addressed from the pulpit or something. But really it wouldn't have to be if people would just be truly christian. Because being christian isn't just hopping on a plane to Haiti after a natural disaster. Which is amazing to do don't get me wrong, but it's not just the big gestures. It's showing compassion and mercy in everyday life.

I really don't hate on Utah or anything. It just makes me sad to hear this type of thing. Sorry to vent. But it's ok cause I'm pretty sure no one reads this anyway haha. It's like its just an outlet for me to spill my guts.

Love Love Love
