I've actually been meaning to blog about the 2nd annual thrift-a-thon for some time now. However, it was finals week this week and I needed to study. And then once they were over, I needed to veg. Now I am back in productive mode and I can blog to my heart's content.
If any of you are the youngest in your family you will understand me when I say that while I was at the thrift-a-thon, I felt like the little sister that finally got to hang out with her older sister and her cool friends.
All of the women there were pretty much blog superstars and thrifty fashionistas. And then there was me: the 20-year old tag-a-long who responded to every thrifty find with, "I would never know what to wear that with." Yet, they were all so fun and sweet to me, saying things like, "Oh we'll find something for you, don't you worry," and "Oh you seem much more mature than my 20-year old sister." One of them even guessed that I was 24 (I think she was just trying to make me feel good).
We hit up three thrift stores in downtown Salt Lake, had lunch at a delicious pizza joint, and finished it up with some gelato. We chatted about fashion, photography, blogging, and, of course, no girl time is complete without swapping some wedding night stories. Overall, it was a blast and it made me realize that the thing I love most about blogging is the people you meet.
However, I must say that when some of the ladies were talking about the negative comments, pressures, and decisions that come with their blogs, it kinda made me wanna quit. I probably wont quit, but I'm just gonna post about whatever I want. None of this "What direction do you want to take with your blog" business.
Now without further ado, I give you my thrifted finds!
I only bought two things because my budget was twenty dollars (I spent forty. Husband was...less than pleased), not because there wasn't a lot of cute stuff. Besides snow+walking from class to class around an outdoor campus= the need to invest in some boots.
If this thrifting excursion taught me nothing else, it taught me that you really shouldn't have to pay full price for anything. And that my friends is my parting wisdom.
Happy thrifting and Merry Christmas!

Your finds were to die for!! I especially love those oxfords. I was totally envious of those. Please don't quit blogging. You're good at it! It can be such a crazy world out here sometimes, but most of the time it's fun and worth it. And you totally are mature for 20. :)
