The blinking light that was no more

So today I was curling my hair with my old reliable curling iron that my sister (who is five years older than me) got when she was in like eighth grade. I was thinking about how that curling iron has held up the best of any of my hair styling tools, I've gone through numerous straighteners and blow dryers in the time I've had that curling iron.

Just then, the spring on the handle breaks. But, I take it in stride, "It's OK," I think to myself, "I already have to turn the thing on with a bobby pin... whats a broken spring to add to the mix?"

Then as I'm curling my last few pieces of hair, they are beginning to look a bit... bleh. I look down to find that the little blinking light, indicating that the iron is hot and ready, is no more.

It died, my friends. Old reliable died. I guess I spoke too soon.

On that note, anyone have a favorite curling iron that they'd like to recommend? I'm in the market :)
