I'm a green machine

The green smoothie. Nothing makes me feel more energized or curbs my sugar cravings better. They are filling, low calorie, and a great way to get more veggies in ya. Definitely a great combination for weight loss/maintenance and overall health.

See how happy I am while drinking my green smoothie?
The recipe that I am going to give you is pretty quick and easy but it is really just a starter smoothie. You can gradually mix things up and try different greens as you do it more often. In fact, it's important to change up the things that you put in your smoothies as to avoid any toxicities.

Your basic smoothie template should be this: 60% fruit, 40% vegetables, and either a banana or an avocado as an emulsifier (makes it creamy). After that, you can add anything you'd like. I've heard of people adding a lemon (peel included), peanut butter, flax oil, frozen berries, honey, stevia, and almond milk. So just do what tastes right to you! Alright, enough chatter. For this recipe you will need:

2 bananas
1 mango
2 stalks of celery
2-3 handfuls of spinach
1 cup of cold water
ice if desired

Blend it all up and drink away. You'll love it, I promise!

Tip: Bananas can drown out the taste of almost any bitter green, I include them in every smoothie I make. If you don't like bananas, it will be a lot harder to mask the veggie taste, but its still possible.

Now I'm off to watch the Victoria's Secret Christmas Fashion Show. Nothing depresses motivates you better than that!

I love green smoothies too! And I definitely agree, it's tricky to mask the veggie taste without bananas.
